Bottle Size: 12 fl ounces/355mL

Cost: $1.50 (At grocery store in Brooklyn)

Alcohol (ABV): 5.3%

Brief History (via. www.destinationbeer.com): Negra Modelo was first produced in 1925 and is brewed and bottled in Mexico by Grupo Modelo, Mexico’s largest brewer.

Now let’s get to the beer!

Style: Munich Dunkel Lager

Appearance: Tan/brownish color. Moderate sized head which faded away relatively quickly after pouring into glass.

Scent/Smell: A malty smell combined with a hint of caramel, didn’t smell much hops.

Taste: Has a bready/toffee taste to it with a slight bitter aftertaste. Quite crisp, but not much hops in the taste at all.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and thin. With its lack on body it makes it quite easy to drink quickly, if you’re into that.

Drink with (food): Dark meats (preferably German and Mexican of course!)

Grade: C+

It’s not the best beer I’ve ever had, but certainly not the worst. I’d recommend trying one when have a meal at a Mexican restaurant.

Next: Lagunitas IPA
