Brief History (via arrogant bastard.com): At Stone Brewing, we believe that pandering to the lowest common denominator represents the height of tyranny – a virtual form of keeping the consumer barefoot and stupid. Brought forth upon an unsuspecting public in 1997, Arrogant Bastard Ale openly challenged the tyrannical overlords who were brazenly attempting to keep Americans chained in the shackles of poor taste. As the progenitor of its style, Arrogant Bastard Ale has reveled in its unprecedented and uncompromising celebration of intensity. There have been many nods to Arrogant Bastard Ale…even outright attempts to copy it… but only one can ever embody the true nature of liquid Arrogance!
Now let’s get to the beer!
Style: American Strong Ale
Appearance: Pours a burnt amber with a moderate head and retention. Light lacing.
Scent/Smell: Caramel malt with citrus hops. Not very complex in the scent department, but not bad.
Taste: Similar to the taste, not very complex, but a goodie. Malty with a grapefruit finish, in addition got a flower taste. Simple, but good.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth, medium carbonation with a full body. Smooth going down, but not something to be chugged.
Drink with (food): Various cheeses
I thoroughly enjoyed this beer. I will be drinking this again quite soon. Fans of beer should at least try this brew once in their lives. If you don’t you’re missing out!
