This beer is for International IPA Day!

The beer is Dogfish 60 minute IPA.

Bottle Size: N/A purchased draft

Cost: $2.00 (Happy hour special! Gotta love it!)

Alcohol (ABV): 6.0%

Background Information (via dogfish’s website): Our 60 Minute IPA is continuously hopped – more than 60 hop additions over a 60 minute boil (getting a vibe yet of where the name came from?). 60 Minute is a session India Pale Ale brewed with a slew of great NorthWest hops. A powerful, but balanced East Coast I.P.A. with a lot of citrusy hop character. The session beer for hardcore beer enthusiasts!

Every Beer Has A Story…

In our Quick Sip Clip video below, Sam Calagione talks about the 60 Minute IPA and for some perspective, compares this beer to its predecessor 90 Minute IPA and big-brother 120 Minute IPA. Sam stepped out of the brewery for the taping of this Quick Sip Clip and comes to us from the place where it all started – Dogfish Head, Maine (which, by the way, is a great area for a summer visit… especially if you have a cold 60 Minute IPA to sip while enjoying the fantastic coastal Maine sunsets!).

Now let’s get to the beer!

Style: American IPA

Appearance: Pours a nice slightly hazy, golden color with a white head. Nice retention and some  lacing.

Scent/Smell: Decent amount of hops from the onset.  Mostly sweet, citrusy, and spicy hops. Not a very strong scent coming from this one.

Taste: Very mild, limited bitterness, and lots of malts.Floral citrus hops are present, orange mostly, slight lemon and other citrus.

Mouthfeel: Medium carbonation, quite smooth and easy going down. In addition, you feel the taste for a white after going down.

Drink with (food): Many cheeses, chicken, fish, salmon, and shellfish.

Grade: B+

Very solid IPA here. Will definitely try to drink this brew again. This is the perfect style to drink on a hot summer day hanging out with the family.
